New Deportivo boss Clarence Seedorf offers lifeline to forgotten midfielder Sulley Muntari
Former Portsmouth and Inter Milan ace has joined the struggling La Liga side on trial with a view to a short-term contract
NEWLY appointed Deportivo La Coruna coach Clarence Seedorf has offered veteran midfielder Sulley Muntari a footballing lifeline.
The former Portsmouth and Inter Milan ace hasn't played since leaving Pescara last summer.
But just two days after being appointed, Dutch legend Seedorf has moved quickly in a bid to reunite with the 33-year-old.
The pair know each other well from their time together at AC Milan when Muntari was playing under Seedorf.
Spanish publication Marca claim that Muntari will undergo a trial period at the Spanish side with a view to offer him a short-term deal until the end of the season.
Deportivo are stranded in a relegation scrap and sit third from bottom on 17 points.
And Seedorf will be hoping tough-tackling Muntari can offer some stability in midfield with his side having the worst defensive record in the league.
The 84-cap Ghanaian spent just one year at Pompey where he was part of the side that won the FA Cup in 2008.

Speaking of his appointment, Seedorf told Sky Sports: "I like to take on these challenges. It would be easy to go to a place where everything is working well. I can help the club.
"I'm happy to have this opportunity to work in football again, in a club with so much history and in a league that gave me so much."
