EMERSON PALMIERI has been hailed as the “best January signing” following his £19million move from Roma to Chelsea last month.

The left-back, 23, arrived at Stamford Bridge late in the transfer window as competition for Marcos Alonso.

Palmieri is yet to make an appearance under Antonio Conte after only just returning to fitness from a cruciate ligament injury.

But respected Italian agent Federico Pastorello, who is good friends with Blues boss Conte, believes Palmieri’s move to London was the best piece of transfer business across Europe last month.

He said: “Best January signing? Emerson Palmieri at Chelsea, and I’m not just saying that because I was involved in the deal. You’ll see, he’ll be a beautiful surprise for the Blues.”

Pastorello also offered some insight into Edin Dzeko’s failed switch, adding: “Dzeko gave the impressions several times that he didn’t really want Chelsea. Money wasn’t an issue.”

Pastorello has been busy in the media after helping client Patrice Evra secure a free transfer to West Ham on Wednesday.

He’s claimed that Emre Can has agreed a free transfer to Juventus from Liverpool.

And Pastorello reckons that Arsenal are looking to beat Chelsea to Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

He also insists striker Mauro Icardi will leave Inter Milan in the summer for a potential world-record fee, describing the Argentine as “the summer’s big transfer.”
