Incoming Liverpool signing Naby Keita slammed by RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl over his poor performances this season
Dynamic Guinean midfielder has already agreed a £55million switch to Anfield and will join this summer
INCOMING Liverpool signing Naby Keita has been slammed by RB Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl over his poor performances this season.
The Guinea international will move to Anfield this summer in a massive £55million deal after bursting onto the scene last season.
Keita was Leipzig’s key performer as the minnows secured a second-place finish in their maiden Bundesliga campaign.
But the 22-year-old’s performances have taken a noticeable dip ever since his move to Liverpool was confirmed last August.
Keita was hoping to complete his Anfield switch six months earlier than anticipated after Jurgen Klopp offered to pay an extra £13m last month.
But Leipzig refused, and boss Hasenhuttl is now hoping Keita begins to show the form which earnt him his Merseyside move in the first place.
Hasenhuttl told Sport Bild: “Naby is not as consistent this year as last year. It’s important that he brings his expectations back to normal levels.
“I’m not one who wants to motivate with fear. I don’t immediately get the whip out in the classic sense and I don’t kick the players non-stop.”
NO THANKS Liverpool boost as Thomas Lemar 'turns down Monaco deal'
Keita’s route to the first team at Liverpool should be made easier by the impending departure of Emre Can.
A respected Italian agent claims his free transfer to Serie A champions Juventus is a done deal, and Klopp may be forced to dip back into the market for a replacement.
