VIRGIL VAN DIJK labelled Harry Kane a “diver” as Tottenham secured an amazing draw in a thriller at Anfield.
Liverpool’s Dutch defender accused the Spurs hitman of conning referee Jon Moss to win his side’s first penalty, which he then missed.
Van Dijk said: “It is a dive. You see him diving clearly and no one is talking about it but I think it is a dive.
There is a lot of discussion about whether it is offside, yes or no, but I think it was offside as well. You could just see him making that dive. The referee made his decision together with the linesman. It was good for us that it got saved.”
Asked whether he thought Kane should be retrospectively punished, he added: “That is not something for me.
“I thought it was a dive, that’s my opinion, and the referee thought it was no offside and no dive and he gave a pen.”
VVD was also unhappy with the awarding of the second spot-kick when Erik Lamela collapsed in a heap as he tried to clear the ball.
The club’s £75million record signing added: “I saw him coming in the end and I try and hold my leg in, he just pulled his body in front of the ball and he goes down.
“The referee said play on and I was very disappointed that the linesman said otherwise.
“I don’t think that is a penalty, same with the first one. That is also clearly not a penalty.”
But Mauricio Pochettino’s side WERE awarded both spot-kicks.
And Kane taunted the Reds after the game when he stared down the TV camera and roared: “You can’t give me two tries!”
The 24-year-old could have notched up his 100th Premier League goal some eight minutes earlier but Kop keeper Loris Karius saved his effort from 12 yards.
The Spurs skipper could not believe he got a second spot-kick when Van Dijk fouled Erik Lamela. Kane said: “I was gutted to miss the first penalty and then they go and score and make it even worse.
“You don’t expect to get that second chance so deep into stoppage time.
“I was nervous before the second penalty. It was a big moment, with a lot of pressure.”
Reds stopper Karius’ homework paid off but he was ultimately left feeling a little down.
The German, 24, said: “You have to gamble.
“I had a feeling that in big games he goes down the middle so I took my chances. It paid off well but for the second one he didn’t show any nerves.
“Everyone is frustrated by the result.”
