HARRY KANE scored a last-gasp penalty a minute after Mo Salah though he'd netted an injury-time winner in an extraordinary game at Anfield.
The Liverpool star struck after Kane missed a penalty moments before, but the Englishman redeemed himself with the last kick of the game following a controversial decision by the linesman.
And all this after Victor Wanyama scored a stunning leveller for Tottenham – just 87 seconds after arriving as a substitute.
Spurs boss Maurcio Pochettino brought Wanyama on for Mousa Dembele in the 79th minute and could not have expected his midfielder to hammer his effort from outside the box.
But Kane wasted an excellent chance to grab a winner when he missed a late penalty before stepping up to the spot for a second time with opposite results. It was an incredible end to a decent Premier League game at Anfield - which was completed when Salah scored again.
Salah’s 20th Premier League goal of the season in the third minute looked as though it could have been neem enough for Liverpool before Spurs woke up.
Spurs took Liverpool apart 4-1 at Wembley in October with Dejan Lovren being replaced in the first half.
But this was a much better performance from Klopp’s side with Virgil van Dijk impressive at the back with full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold also doing well.
Tottenham did not create enough and to sum up their day, Dele Alli was booked for diving when trying to win a penalty with 21 minutes left. In fairness, though, they refused to give up.
For Spurs, a 2-1 win over Manchester City in 2016 was the only victory Spurs have managed in 18 away games against other members of the Premier League’s so-called big six.
It is now 29 Premier Legaue away games against the big six that Spurs have failed to keep a clean sheet.
Spurs made Liverpool attack the Kop in the first hald yet after just two minutes and 15 seconds, they were trailing.
From Karius’ long kick, Sadio Mane flicked the ball on towards Roberto Firmino, Davinson Sanchez dithered and failed to clear. Kieran Trippier stuck his leg out, Eric Dier delivered a suicidal pass towards Sanchez and Salah reacted first, taking one touch before scoring with a brilliant finish into the bottom corner.
Sanchez made another mess and was overpowered by Mane but his cross was cleared.
When Spurs did threaten, with Heung-Min Son about to line up a shot, the van Dijk delivered the type of sliding tackle to illustrate why Klopp paid so much.
James Milner went close with a deflected half volley off Sanchez, while the former England midfielder also crossed for a completely unmarked van Dijk to head at Lloris.
Dier claimed he should have been given a penalty after tangling with Milner although it was not until the 40th minute that Spurs made Karius work with Dembele managing their first shot on target.
Spurs improved in the second half, not they could have got any worse, with Liverpool also starting to leave a few spaces at the back.
Alli released Son with a clever pass but the South Korean took the ball too close to Karius and the German keeper was able to block.
Seeing that his team were find themselves under more pressure, Klopp made a double substitution with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gini Wijnaldum replacing Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane.
Alli was booked for simulation, Erik Lamela replaced Sanchez who suffered a forgettable afternoon.
With Spurs increasing their pressure, Klopp brought on Joel Matip and switched to a back three while Wanyama replaced Dembele.
And with 10 minutes left, Wanyama crashed a ball into the net from long distance after Karius pushed away a cross from Chrstian Eriksen with Emre Can failing to clear. Also, Klopp would have liked Oxlade-Chamberlain to have got to the ball first.
Spurs then got a penalty after Kane had been brought down by Karius – and the England striker fired the ball at Karius.
Kane, who looked offside when being brought down, looked nervous before taking the spot-kick.
Salah then struck in the 91st minute to cap this remarkable match... but that's what they though.
Erik Lamela was then deemed to have been brought down in the box by Virgil van Dijk, and Kane redeemed himself by scoring with the last kick of the game.
