Jose Mourinho takes another pop at Manchester United fans as he claims Fratton Park has better atmosphere than Old Trafford
It is the third time this season that Red Devils manager has sensationally taken aim at his own support
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has taken another dig at his own fans by claiming Fratton Park has a better atmosphere than Old Trafford.
The 55-year-old made the bizarre comments in the aftermath of his side's 2-0 victory against Huddersfield at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday.
Romelu Lukaku scored the opener for United in the second half against the Terriers, before former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez netted his first goal for his new club.
The Chilean international was playing his first home game since joining, and found the back of the net after banging in the rebound after seeing his penalty saved by Jonas Lossl.
When asked about Sanchez, Mourinho said: "He played his first game at Old Trafford in spite of being a quiet stadium. The pitch is big and the grass is nice and obviously the players feel very comfortable playing here.
"But I don’t want to individualise because the tacking players have so much quality."
The former Chelsea manager was then asked what he meant by his "quiet stadium" comments, to which Mourinho ridiculed the support of the United fans.
He said: "No, it’s not Portsmouth. I remember Portsmouth when they were in the Premier League, such a small stadium, the atmosphere was absolutely incredible.

"In here the atmosphere is a bit quiet and it is not very, very enthusiastic."
Mourinho recently signed a new deal until 2020, but his statement is likely to not go down well with the United faithful.
