Swansea chief confident of completing club-record £18m move for West Ham’s Andre Ayew and loan swoop for Leicester’s Andy King
Chairman Huw Jenkins insists that the big-money fee for the Hammers frontman is not a 'gamble'
SWANSEA chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed they are closing in on a club record £18million deal for West Ham's Andre Ayew and a loan swoop for Leicester's Andy King.
The Swans have yet to bring in any new recruits this month but are confident of getting both transfers completed before tonight's transfer deadline.
Carlos Carvalhal, who took charge last month, is desperate to add to his attacking options.
Forward Ayew, who left The Liberty for the Hammers in 2016, is the man he wants to help their survival fight.
And the star arrived in South Wales this afternoon to undergo a medical before his return is made permanent.
Foxes midfielder King has also emerged as a late loan target for the Premier League strugglers.
And Swans chief Jenkins confirmed to Sky Sports that he is confident the duo will both finalised before 11pm.
He said: "The deal with Andre we’re trying to conclude that today as quickly as we can and Andy King coming on loan from Leicester trying to finish off in next hour to two.

"We’re quietly confident. It was important we got them done, in particular Andre because we’ve been working on that for quite a while.
"We’ve been waiting on West Ham to give us the green light to complete that deal and we’re waiting to get the paperwork all signed off.

"Andy is different, he’s someone to come in and boost the squad which he’s keen to do that and most importantly Carlos was keen to get those positions filled for us to have a good healthy squad between now and the end of the season.
"Hopefully with Andre and Andy we can get everything completed tonight."
On the big-money fee for former favourite Ayew, Jenkins added: "We don't see it as a gamble.
"It's a big fee for us as a club, transfer values have changed over the last couple of years and things have risen considerably, but we feel it's a good deal for us as a club with a big challenge ahead to make sure we finish well between now and the end of the season.
"We're all looking forward to Andre being reunited with his brother and forging a great partnership for us."
