WAS this the moment Olivier Giroud said his goodbyes to Arsenal fans?
The Frenchman appeared as a sub but was unable to stop the Gunners from slipping to a 3-1 defeat at Swansea on Tuesday.
And after the full time whistle, the forward ran over to the disappointed travelling section for an extended wave and salute.
Giroud, 31, has been heavily linked with a Deadline Day move to Chelsea.
And Arsene Wenger confirmed before the clash that the striker could possibly leave the club today.
His manager did pay tribute to Giroud for making himself available to face the Swans.
“It's a tribute to Olivier,” Wenger said.
“He's given great service to the club, never let us down on the performance front and saved us many times.”
However, he understands why he wants to leave in search of more football.
Giroud wants action in order to cement his place in the France squad for the World Cup this summer.
And he now appears to be well on his way out of the Emirates exit door after his actions at the Liberty Stadium.
Giroud has played more than 250 times for the club but is set to switch allegiance to rivals Chelsea.
Arsenal want to tie-up a move for Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before giving the green light to the veteran's departure.
And his arrival at Stamford Bridge will then trigger the final link in a chain of transfers.
Out of favour Blues star Michy Batshuayi will head to Dortmund as Aubameyang's replacement.
