Posh No10 bizarrely handled a cross as it came in during FA Cup clash against Foxes before hurtling full tilt into the post and needing several minutes' treatment
PETERBOROUGH star Danny Lloyd had a bizarre injury scare after his NECK collided with a goalpost.
The 26-year-old had attempted to convert a cross in their FA Cup fourth round tie with Leicester City.
With Posh 3-0 down after just 29 minutes, he was attempting to get the home side back in the tie.
But the ball clearly hit his arm from the cross, before he careered towards the goalpost head first.
Left midfielder Lloyd ducked his head out of the way just at the right moment though, but that did not save his neck from crunching against the upright.
It initially looked as though his head took the blow, but replays showed it was in fact his neck that had taken the brunt.
Lloyd was treated for several minutes by the London Road medical team and was not moving for a few moments, before he stirred and moved his legs around.
The former Lincoln, Flyde and Stockport was clearly in pain from the bash.
But after a minute or so of treatment he was back on his feet and sent to the sidelines for a final inspection from the medical team.
Leicester had taken the easy cruise down the A47 and took an early lead through Fousseni Diabate, before Kelechi Iheanacho netted a second and a third.
In an interview with , Lloyd revealed how he went from working for the waste disposal firm Biffa and considered making a crack at the big time on Jamie Vardy's reality TV show V9 Academy.
He said:"The Next Jamie Vardy featured on Sky and now here I am possibly playing against him in front of the BT cameras a few months later. It’s really mad.
"Don’t get me wrong, the academy is a brilliant idea and it’s great that Jamie hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from.
"I’ve played against him once before in the Conference National when I was at Lincoln and he was at Fleetwood.
"Non-league is just as tough as they say, but it’s a much better standard than most people recognise. I’ve always wanted to be in the Football League, though. It’s been my dream."
Andrew Hughes then got the home side back into the game, with his scrambled finish from a corner finding its way past Ben Hamer.
But the Foxes ended up wiping the floor with their League One opponents, as Diabate grabbed a second of his own on 87 minutes and Wilfried Ndidi polished off with a fifth in injury time.
