PSV, who are top of the Eredivisie, will be reluctant to lose Brands but he is apparently struck by the lure of the Premier League.

Brands, 54, has been a key part of the PSV set-up since leaving AZ Alkmaar in 2010.

He has helped bring in and cash in on the likes of Kevin Strootman, Georginio Wijnaldum, Dries Mertens, Luciano Narsingh and Jeffrey Bruma.

Current talents such as Gaston Pereiro, Hirving Lozano and Santiago Arias were also brought in under the Brands regime.

Brands might take a 'global' approach to scouting, with Walsh concentrating on domestic issues.

Everton have made two January signings, bringing in attackers Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott to boost Sam Allardyce's options in a double swoop worth nearly £50million.

In the summer they laid out for Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The Toffees have received precious little reward for their expenditure, lurching towards the relegation zone under Ronald Koeman before Allardyve moved in.

But after a decent start to his reign, Big Sam finds himself without a win in seven league and cup games.
