Borussia Dortmund slam Arsene Wenger over links to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Protracted contract saga takes yet another turn with Dortmund chief Michael Zorc insisting there is no contact between the sides
BORUSSIA DORTMUND sporting director Michael Zorc has slammed Arsene Wenger for speaking fondly of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Arsenal boss praised Aubameyang's character - despite his badboy reputation - during a press conference earlier today.
The Gabon striker has been strongly linked with a move to North London as Arsenal look to replace Manchester United-bound Alexis Sanchez.
But Zorc was having none of it, accusing Wenger of a "lack of respect" for talking of a player while he is contracted to another club.
Zorc said: "We think it is a lack of respect when you get involved with players who are playing for another team.
"There is no contact with Arsenal. We can only assume that Arsene Wenger has enough to think about when it comes to the performances of his own players."
Wenger confirmed Arsenal's interest in Aubameyang - and waxed lyrical over his temperament.
Speaking of Aubameyang, the French boss said: "Yes, a character can be very positive or very negative.
"Overall you look at achievement over career and if he has done well the character has been used in a positive way."
But Wenger was coy over an actual transfer taking place.
He said: "I have nothing to add to that. This kind of thing is better when it's secret.
"You announce it when it's over the line. Nothing else [other than Sanchez] is close."
