Carroll has missed both of West Ham's FA Cup clashes against Shrewsbury and Saturday's Premier League win over Huddersfield - where the Hammers named just six subs.

It is understood Chelsea have not made a bid for Carroll, who they want on loan, but Irons boss David Moyes is bracing himself.

West Ham reportedly want Blues forward Michy Batshuayi, 24, as part of a deal and Moyes was at Stamford Bridge last night to watch the Belgian score against Norwich.

Carroll, 29, has 18 months left on his £100,000-a-week contract at the London Stadium.

He said: "I certainly hope Andy will be a player here at the end of the month.

"I don't think we have had any offers in terms of taking him on loan and I don't think the club would entertain him going out on loan.

"That does not help us and we need as much help as we can get between now and the end of the season so I don't know why that would be attractive to the club if it was to come up.

"There has been a lot of talk about it but not necessarily anybody doing anything about it.

"He is part of our long-term plans. It is a real shame that we have not had him since he scored the two goals against West Brom.

"They were two fantastic goals. He was buzzing after it but then he got this ankle problem and that is really bad timing from his and our point of view."
