West Ham want Joao Mario and are in transfer talks with Inter Milan over shock January loan move
David Moyes desperate to land a midfielder this month and has turned to the out-of-favour Portuguese ace
WEST HAM have reportedly opened talks with Inter Milan over a loan move for Joao Mario.
claims David Moyes is targeting the midfielder in a shock swoop as he looks to move away from the relegation zone.
Mario has failed to make an impression for Inter this season, playing second-fiddle to the likes of Borja Valero and Marcelo Brozovic.
He is keen on escaping the San Siro in order to boost his chances of featuring for Portugal at this summer’s World Cup.
And West Ham are believed to be offering Mario the chance to play regular football between now and the end of the season.
However, the report adds that Mario is not that interested in moving to the London Stadium.
He’s concerned by West Ham’s slow start to the campaign, and would prefer to join a club playing European football.
But a deal could still be done and Moyes’ men are apparently doing all they can to make the transfer happen.

West Ham have targeted a number of midfielders this month, including Bournemouth’s Harry Arter.
They remain interested in Steven N’Zonzi, but he is likely to stay at Sevilla until July following the arrival of new manager Vincenzo Montella.
