With reports that Sanchez has now agreed a four-year deal worth £490,000 a week, it suggestsMkhitaryan is on his way to The Emirates.

And regardless of the Sanchez deal, the Gunners now have £20million more in the bank after the sale of Theo Walcott to Everton.

However the Mkhitaryan deal could still be dependent on Olivier Giroud agreeing to move to Germans Dortmund.

A man central to both deals is Sven Mislintat, Arsenal's recently appointed head of recruitment, who is overseeing the transfer business. Mislintat is Dortmund's former chief scout.

Wenger is confident he will get at least two new attacking players this month.

And that is before we get to the uncertainty around Mesut Ozil's contract, which Arsenal fear will continue to hang over them for the rest of the season.

Wenger recently claimed he thinks Ozil is finally ready to sign a new deal but that optimism is not shared by other senior executives at the club.
