NICOLAS OTAMENDI has signed a new Manchester City contract until 2022.
The defender has been key in Pep Guardiola's push for the Premier League title this season.
Otamendi has been hailed as City's "Superman" on more than one occasion by his boss.
And after popping up with an impressive five goals this season, the 29-year-old has now been rewarded with a lucrative new deal.
He tweeted: “So happy to continue in @mancity, thanks to the club and the technical team for their trust and respect, and to the fans for their wholeheartedly support in every match, at all time.”
Speaking to the club's official website, he added: "At the club, I'm really enjoying my experience since the first day I got here. I'm very happy to be staying here a couple more years."
Otamendi's current contract was due to expire in 2020 and Guardiola was keen to secure his future.
Despite a slow start to life at the Etihad following a big-money move from Valencia 2015, Otamendi has gone on to become one of City's most influential players.

He's adapted brilliantly to Guardiola's possession-based style of play, completing more passes than any other defender in the top flight.
Otamendi also has the fourth-best pass accuracy of any defender in the league, with City team-mate John Stones No 1.
Man City transfer news
However, with Vincent Kompany usually injured and Eliaquim Mangala failing to adapt, City remain on the hunt for another centre-back.
Virgil van Dijk had been a target before his Liverpool move, but it's believed West Brom captain Jonny Evans is Guardiola's top choice.
