The England international had no future at the Emirates and had not started a Premier League game since last April.

Former club Southampton and Bouremouth were keen on the 28-year-old who is now looking to kick-start his career under Sam Allardyce at Goodison Park.

Big Sam has bemoaned the lack of pace in the squad he inherited from Ronald Koeman and will look to use Walcott behind new £27m man Cenk Tosun in a new-look forward line for the second half of the season.

Allardyce said: "I don’t know where I would play him until we get the deal done. When that deal’s done, I can have that conversation.

"I see him playing anywhere across the front three.

"But I’m presuming if he’s not comfortable with that, then he will tell us and it won’t happen. That’s if we can get that far."

Walcott joined Arsenal from Saints 12 years ago and scored 108 goals in 397 appearances.

His final game for the Gunners was a late cameo in the defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The forward will be registered in time to make his Toffees debut at home to West Brom on Saturday and has not given up on making Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad.
