Jamie Carragher says Liverpool will never challenge for title unless they dump Simon Mignolet
Reds keeper produced another howler against Arsenal and Anfield legend Carragher insists Jurgen Klopp must ditch the Belgian if he wants to seriously challenge the big clubs
JAMIE CARRAGHER claims Liverpool will never challenge for the title until they dump Simon Mignolet.
The Belgian goalkeeper produced another howler as he gifted Arsenal an equaliser in the thrilling 3-3 draw against Liverpool last night.
He allowed Granit Xhaka's shot to slip through his grasp as the Gunners came back from 2-0 down to score a second at the Emirates.
It was the latest in a long list of mistakes Mignolet has made during his time at Anfield - and former defender Carragher has clearly run out of patience.
He claims no matter how impressive Jurgen Klopp's side are in attack, they have no chance of ever challenging for the Premier League until they bring in a top class keeper.
Carragher said: "There's some movement on the ball but you have to do better than that - it's shocking from the goalkeeper.
“Until they get a keeper of decent quality they won't challenge the top sides."
One of the biggest headaches Klopp has had since taking charge at Anfield is being able to rely on a goalkeeper to perform consistently.
Both Mignolet, 29, and other option Loris Karius have been given extended runs in the side but both have failed to erase the errors from their game.

Gifting opponents easy goals is becoming an Achilles heel for Liverpool, and threatens to undo much of their good work in attack.

Klopp said: "He [Mignolet] misjudged it. A second hand would have helped but that is how it is.
"It felt like we shouldn't have conceded but we did. It's not too cool but we had five minutes where we had obvious, individual problems. We opened the door.”
Liverpool now find themselves down in fourth place in the table, 17 point adrift of leaders Manchester City with just half a season played.
And they are under more pressure from the sides just behind them than they are close to challenging for a top three spot - putting their hopes of Champions league qualification at risk.
