MANCHESTER CITY are pushing for a 39th match to be added to the Premier League season - and for it to be played abroad.
The idea was shot down when presented by Prem chairman Richard Scudamore three years ago.
And this summer he went so far as to say he had "scars all the way up my back" when pressed about the chance of revisiting the initiative.
But the report that City are among "a number" of top clubs still looking at playing an extra round of overseas fixtures.
The Spanish league are in talks about having games abroad and Prem bosses are fearful of being left behind.
Especially as La Liga's plan for foreign games would involve money-spinning fixtures involving Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In September, president Javier Tebas confirmed: "La Liga is global entertainment and we want to grow its international appeal.
"As part of that effort we are discussing the option of playing some of the league matches outside Spain. These discussions are still in early stages, but as La Liga, we support the idea."
The Mail report that City's chiefs believe they should be taking charge in this respect and not following the lead of Spanish rivals.
Overseas games as part of the normal season are common in other sports.
The NFL frequently visits London and the NBA is in town next month for a regular season game between the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics.
