Ross Barkley returns to Everton training and is applauded by team-mates after recovery from summer hamstring injury
Midfielder is yet to feature this season after also undergoing groin surgery back in July
ROSS BARKLEY was given a round of applause by his Everton team-mates after returning to training today.
The midfielder, 24, has finally recovered from a hamstring injury suffered in August and is yet to make an appearance this season.
Barkley also underwent surgery to fix a groin problem before doing his hamstring, but is now back in contention for a first-team place under Sam Allardyce.
The England international was given a warm reception at Finch Farm by his peers and looked keen to make an impression despite being unlikely to feature in Saturday’s game against Chelsea.
However, Barkley’s long-term future is unclear as he approaches the final six months of his Toffees contract.
The playmaker rejected a move to Stamford Bridge last summer amid interest from Tottenham and could be set to leave Goodison Park as early as next month.
Boss Allardyce admits Barkley’s dilemma is giving him a headache, but admits he holds little sway over the player’s future.
Big Sam said: “Ross had a bit of a run out and I think if everything continues the way it is, he will be back early January.

“I don’t think it’s in our hands at the minute, it’s in Ross’ hands. He knows the door is always open if he wants to talk about staying.
“It’s not a case of the door being shut. It is always going to be open. Whether he chooses that route will determine it. Who knows what will happen in January.”
