If not, they managed to find a way to score in "Fergie time" to steal all three points in the dying seconds... a mark of a true champion.

So strong have City been this year, chatter has already begun as to whether this current crop of players are indeed the greatest Premier League squad of all time.

While Chelsea's 2004-05 squad hold the record for points won with 95, Arsenal's 2003-04 "Invincibles" are widely considered the best squad ever.

Arsene Wenger's side, including the likes of Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg and Dennis Bergkamp went all year without losing a single game... the only time in history.

Compared to the Blues' record-setting 2004-05 crop, featuring Frank Lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba and Co, City currently sit on nine more points.

In terms of the top-scoring Prem outfit of all time, that too goes to Chelsea, with 103 goals in the 2009-10 season.

Man City are also expected to shatter that tally, scoring ten more goals this term than the Blues in their record-setting season.

In fact, Guardiola's side are currently projected to find the net 118 times this season.

So while there may be 20 long games to go, as things stand, City are primed to become the greatest Premier League team in history.
