Pep Guardiola confronted by pitch invader at Leicester who had to be tackled to the ground just yards from the Man City boss

A PITCH invader had to be tackled to the ground when he tried to run towards Pep Guardiola during City's Carabao Cup win over Leicester.

The Spaniard was out in his technical area when a fan from the crowd made a beeline towards his direction.

The lout was thrown out of the King Power Stadium and Leicester are set to launch a probe into the incident.

Guardiola played down the flashpoint, joking: “I think he wanted my shirt! But I was safe. No problem.”

The invader was just a few feet away from Guardiola when stewards stopped him in his tracks.

He was grabbed by two members of security before a third was forced to step in.

The man was then wrestled to the ground after he tried to break free and was escorted off the premises.

But he still managed to get a word across to Guardiola as security forced him out of the stadium.

The two clocked eye contact on his way out and signalled something towards the former Barcelona manager.

But it was the City boss who had the last laugh after his side edged past the Foxes and into the semi-finals.
