But which manager has the better Premier League record: Jose or Pep?

Thanks in no small part to Manchester City's astonishing start to the 2017-18 season, it's actually Guardiola with the better win rate.

The Spanish boss - formerly of Barcelona and Bayern Munich - has taken charge of 53 Prem matches, winning 37 for a 69.8 per cent win rate.

Meanwhile, Manchester United chief Mourinho has taken charge of over FIVE times as many matches, with 264.

Those numbers account for two separate stints at Chelsea and his 18 months at Old Trafford.

However, his win rate pales in comparison to Guardiola at 64.4, having won 170 of his 264 league outings.

So while Guardiola statistically has the better numbers, he does so from a much smaller sample size.

After all, Mourinho has three Premier League crowns under his belt already... with Pep chasing his first.

Through their careers, it's a similar story, with Mourinho picking up more silverware than his City rival.

However, when you consider the "Special One" has been a manager for nearly twice as long - 17 years to just nine years - things start to edge back in Guardiola's favour.

Both managers have won two Champions League crowns - meaning Pep wins one every four-and-a-half years, streets ahead of Jose's eight-and-a-half year ratio.

Then there's the league title record, with Mourinho boasting an impressive eight trophies, to Pep's six.

Again though, that leaves the Spaniard with the better ratio, winning a league title twice every three years, compared to Mourinho's record of under one every other season.

So while Guardiola boasts arguably the better Premier League and career record - and his City team are on fire at the moment - should the blue half of the city go into the derby as heavy favourites?

Perhaps so, but know this: Mourinho has never lost a Premier League match at home on a Sunday...
