Champions League round-up: Last year’s finalists Juventus seal qualification alongside Roma and Basel

Benfica have the unwanted record of being the worst performing Portuguese side to ever participate in the Group Stage of the Champions League

LAST season's finalists Juventus booked their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League with a 2-0 victory in Olympiacos.

The Old Lady finished second in their group behind Barcelona and could face Manchester United, Man City or Spurs in the knock-out round.

It is the eighth time in a row that manager Massimiliano Allegri has reached the Round of 16 - only Arsene Wenger has achieved more.

Ex-Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado fired Juve ahead on 15 minutes before Federico Bernardeschi settled matters in the dying embers.

Basel were also rewarded for their fine performances in the group phrase with a 2-0 victory in Benfica to leave them second in the group.

Mohamed Elyounoussi sent them on their way in the fifth minute before Dimitri Oberlin rounded off the three points.

But for Benfica, they completed the worst group stage by any Portuguese team in the history of the Champions League with zero points from six matches.

Elsewhere Italian side Roma finished top of Group C with a narrow 1-0 win over Qarabag.

Diego Perotti finally broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute to ensure the three crucial points.

It means fellow Group C opponents Chelsea could only manage a second place finish.
