Caretaker boss David Unsworth has endured a rough time back on Merseyside, having been thumped in his previous two games.

Now, as Everton chiefs including Farhad Moshiri look to rescue their season, they're set to hand Big Sam the monster pay-cheque to work his magic.

No stranger to a relegation dogfight, Allardyce may well be the right man... but at £100,000-a-week, he will become the 12th highest-paid manager in the WORLD.

His mammoth weekly wages add up to an eye-watering £5.2million per year - ahead of Newcastle chief Rafa Benitez, PSG boss Unai Emery and Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone.

Incredibly, the highest-paid manager in the world doesn't come from one of Europe's Big Five leagues.

Marcello Lippi takes home a barely-believable £18m per year for taking charge of China's national team.

Manchester is the port of call for No2 and No3 on the list at Pep Guardiola (£15.3m) and Jose Mourinho (£15m) both come close to Lippi.

The Chinese Super League has been the cash-cow of choice for a whole host of players in recent seasons... but also bosses.

The last 12 months has seen many ups and downs for Sam Allardyce
