PERU will definitely be going to the World Cup after a government official confirmed a controversial law has been scrapped.
Such a move would break Fifa rules and gave the likes of Italy and Chile had been given hope of an unlikely reprieve in Russia.
However, Peruvian congresswoman Palomo Noceda, who was alleged to have proposed the law in the first place claimed the intentions had been misinterpreted.
In an interview with a national radio station, she explained that "in no way at all" was the government making these proposals.
And she added: "I don't know how any part of the proposal could have been interpreted in this way.

"Maybe these worries about potential state interference could come from the FPF [the Peruvian FA] or from Fifa, who could see it this way, but we in the commission, and I believe everybody in congress, want the best for sport in this country."
In March, Mali were suspended from international competition when the government made drastic changes to the country's FA.

And Fifa confirmed it would continue to monitor the situation and had sent a letter to the FPF.
However, Noceda moved to allay any fears by tweeting: "Peru are at the World Cup and will be going to the World Cup. There is no governmental project that would impede this."
Peru became the 32nd and final team to reach Russia after they beat New Zealand 2-0 in an intercontinental play-off.
