Sergio Aguero rushed to hospital after fainting at half-time against Nigeria

The Argentina and Manchester City striker netted at the Krasnodar Stadium against the Super Eagles, but failed to come out for the second-half

SERGIO AGUERO was rushed to a hospital after FAINTING in the changing rooms at half-time between Argentina and Nigeria.

The 29-year-old netted for the South Americans in the eventual 4-2 loss against the Super Eagles, but failed to come out for the second-half.

He was replaced by Dario Benedetto for the remaining 45 minutes, as Argentina lost all attacking threat against the African side.

According to Argentinian news outlet , the Manchester City striker was sent away for an immediate check-up.

They tweeted: “Kun Agüero fainted in the dressing room and was taken to a nearby hospital for a general checkup.”

The news will come as a huge blow for Pep Guardiola with the Citizens due to face Leicester away at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Aguero started off the match in blistering fashion – causing Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi to pick the ball up outside the area as he closed him down.

This led to the matches opening goal, as Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega netted from the resulting free-kick.

And shortly after, City’s all-time top scorer netted his 36th international goal as he lashed home from close range into the roof of the net.

His failure to appear in the second half coincided with 2014 World Cup runners-up capitulating in the final 45 minutes.

Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for Nigeria just before half-time with a free-kick of his own, as Salisu Yusuf’s side toyed with Lionel Messi-less Argentina.

Arsenal ace Alex Iwobi netted an emphatic brace including a may solo run – reminiscent of his uncle Jay Jay Okocha as he nutmegged Javier Mascherano.

While debutant Brian Idowu was also on the score sheet to seat a famous win for the 2013 African Cup of Nations champions.

This isn’t the first time Aguero has been admitted to hospital in recent months, after he suffered a broken rib in a car crash in Amsterdam.
