Manchester United and City stars Phil Jones and John Stones unite in England training ahead of Germany clash

Gareth Southgate has had a number of pull-outs over the past 48 hours, but that hasn't dampened the spirits of the Three Lions as they cause a splash in training

MANCHESTER UNITED and City's England stars put their rivalry aside as the Three Lions continued their preparations for Germany and Brazil in torrential rain.

Gareth Southgate's squad has been decimated by injuries over the past 48 hours.

City duo Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling and Liverpool's Jordan Henderson are the latest men to pull out of the party.

They join Tottenham trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks on sidelines.

However, the remaining men at St. George's Park looked to be in fine spirits in training this morning despite the downpour.

And none more so than rival Manchester defenders Phil Jones and John Stones.

Jones and his Red Devils side may be trailing Stones and the Citizens by eight points at the top of the Premier League, but they looked brothers in arms as they celebrated a goal in the wet session.

There's no doubt that the withdrawals will have hit Southgate's plans hard, but he and his assistant Steve Holland ensured that Tuesday's workout was no damp squid for his men.

And there was something of a youthful feel to the place thanks to the three new boys on show.

Liverpool's Joe Gomez, Swansea's on-loan Chelsea starlet Tammy Abraham and his fellow Blues loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek, currently at Crystal Palace, all looked to be loving life with the seniors.

Southgate and his side will be hoping to create a far hotter atmosphere when they line-up against current world champions Germany this Friday at Wembley.

Having sealed World Cup qualification last month, the England boss will be hoping to use the match and next week's clash with Brazil to take a look at some of his younger options.

The new trio are in line to win their first senior caps over the coming days, and all will be hoping to impress the nation and take a significant step towards securing their seat on the plane to Russia next summer.
