Javier Mascherano set to leave Barcelona to finish his career in the MLS
Former Liverpool and West Ham utility man decides against cashing in with big money move to China or Qatar
JAVIER MASCHERANO has told Barcelona he wants to leave and play in the United States.
The former West Ham and Liverpool utility man had the choice of China or Qatar for what will presumably be one final big pay day.
The versatile Argentinian, who can play in defence or as a midfield option, isn't a regular choice this season.
Instead he is having to make do as a fringe member of the Barcelona squad.
Mascherano signed for 2010 and has gone on to make 330 appearances, winning a total of 17 honours.
His haul includes four La Liga titles, four Copa Del Reys and two Champions Leagues.
Having been converted into a ball-playing central defender, he's been an excellent servant to the club.

And his only goal for the club, scored last season, will forever be an iconic moment in Barca's history.
It came in a 7-1 win over Osasuna, with Lionel Messi off after scoring a brace, and with Suarez on the bench and Neymar serving a suspension.
