PHIL JONES is set to sign a mega new Manchester United deal worth £150,000 a week, according to reports.
The England defender has been impressive for Jose Mourinho so far this season and will reportedly be rewarded with a new pay package.
Jones has forced his way into Mourinho's plans and is now a first-choice centre-back but has just 20 months of his current deal remaining.
If he puts pen to paper on the new contract - as if expected - then he will become one of the Premier League's highest-paid defenders.
report the wage will put him in the same bracket as Chelsea's David Luiz and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
United have conceded just two goals so far this term, the fewest in the Premier League, and part of that is down to 25-year-old Jones.
His pairing with Eric Bailly has been most effective and helped United to second in the table after a 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
Mourinho has reportedly also been pleased with how the former Blackburn man has recovered from injuries.
He came back from his summer break in the best shape of his career.
And Jones has not let up despite the gruelling campaign at home and abroad.

Mourinho hopes to tie Jones down to a new deal before the hectic Christmas schedule.
