Bayern Munich 5 SC Freiburg 0: Jupp Heynckes back as boss with a thumping win as Robert Lewandowski helps Bundesliga champs KO strugglers

Veteran manager returns in style after replacing sacked Carlo Ancelotti - with Julian Schuster's own goal, Kingsley Coman, Thiago Alcantara and Joshua Kimmich also on target

JUPP HEYNCKES launched his fourth spell as Bayern boss with a five-star romp against strugglers Freiburg.

Julian Schuster's early own goal and Kingsley Coman's header put the Bundesliga champions in command before the break.

Then Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara thumped a 25-yard special on 63 minutes and Robert Lewandowski slotted a simple fourth 12 minutes later.

Joshua Kimmich added a flattering fifth with a superb finish deep in stoppage time as Bayern closed on leaders Dortmund.

The German giants were rarely troubled but for the first hour at least struggled for real sharpness in the final third of the pitch.

Their only real concern came at the start when Sven Ulreich, their replacement keeper for injured Manuel Neuer, foiled Ryan Kent - the 20-year-old winger on loan from Liverpool.

And in the eighth minute Freiburg skipper Schuster became the first Bundesliga player for 26 years to put past his own keeper for two matches in a row.

Schuster diverted in Thomas Muller's shot after Kent's mistake enabled David Alaba to cross.

Coman doubled the lead on his 50th Bundesliga appearance just before the break.

Alexander Schwolow could only palm a strike from Arjen Robben into the middle of the area, giving Coman a chance to loop home a header.

Thiago finished off Freiburg when he was given enough space to blast into the bottom corner.

And Muller robbed Caglar Soyuncu to set up the unmarked Lewandowski for a calm low, scoring shot.

Bayern substitute Corentin Tolisso forced the now-busy Schwolow into a fine stop as the homes side revved up their pressure and fluency.

Then finally Kimmich drilled home from the right, with his team-mates allowing the ball to cross the line because of his hard work in conjuring the opportunity for himself.
