Ex-Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger reveals he has a passion for the ballet and opera
Bastian Schweinsteiger has outed himself as a cultured midfielder ... by revealing he enjoys going to the BALLET.
And the ex-Manchester United star said he also relaxes by watching operas and plays as well as visiting museums.
Former Bayern Munich and Germany legend Schweinsteiger now plays for MLS club Chicago Fire.
The 33-year-old, married to tennis star Ana Ivanovic, lifted the lid on his hobbies in an interview with Chicago magazine Michigan Avenue.
Asked to describe a perfect day in the US city, he said: "Wake around 7am, grab a coffee - obviously everything is with my wife.
"Have a walk to Navy Pier, have breakfast then take a bike ride.
"Maybe go to a museum, have a nap in the afternoon and then it depends - let's say watching an ice hockey game in the early evening - and then if there is any time to go to the opera.
"Because the opera, theatre, ballet, bring me down from the day. When the orchestra starts playing I relax.
"That's it. I'm not going out for parties."
Schweinsteiger ended a 20-month Old Trafford spell when joining Chicago in March.
