Jack Harrison had to pay for his own flight to England for U21 duty after missing his plane from the US
The New York City winger, 20, was meant to leave the Big Apple on Sunday night after a 1-1 draw at Chicago Fire
ENGLAND’S newest recruit has already raised doubts about his aerial ability but there is no doubting his commitment to the Three Lions.
MLS starlet Jack Harrison has PAID to fulfil his first Under-21 call-up after missing his flight from the States.
The New York City winger, 20, was meant to leave the Big Apple on Sunday night after a 1-1 draw at Chicago Fire the previous day.
He said: “We flew back from Chicago and I had to go home and pack a few things before heading to JFK to catch my flight to London.
“But the traffic was terrible and I ended up missing my flight.
“I tried to contact someone at the FA but it was in the middle of the night over here.
“So I decided to book the first flight out on Monday morning.
“It was $1,500 to fly to Heathrow but I thought the best thing was to get over there.”
Stoke-born Harrison eventually arrived at St George’s Park late on Monday evening.
And he cannot wait to feature in the Young Lions’ Euro 2017 double-header — at home to Scotland in Middlesbrough tomorrow and in Andorra on Tuesday.

He was told of the call-up by former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira, the coach of New York.
Harrison, dubbed “Golden boy” by team-mates including Andrea Pirlo and David Villa, said: “I wasn’t expecting it at all. I was so excited.
“It was a really proud and cool moment.”
