Cristiano Ronaldo SELLS his Ballon d’Or trophy… making £530,000 for charity Make-A-Wish Foundation

CRISTIANO RONALDO has always been altruistic.

The Real Madrid superstar was named the world's most charitable athlete a couple of years ago - and he again helped raise hundreds of thousands at a recent charity auction.

The four-time Ballon d'Or winner has given up a replica of one of his trophies to help raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation.

According to Spanish newspaper , Ronaldo donated the 2013 replica at a charity auction in London at the weekend.

It was bought by Israel's richest person, billionaire Idan Ofer, who spent a massive £530,000 to buy the replica.

Those funds will all go to Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The charity grants wishes to kids with life-threatening or terminally ill medical conditions.

Ronaldo has a long history of raising huge amounts for charity.

He has raised money for Save the Children, Unicef, World Vision and others as well as being a big contributor to disaster relief funds.

There were unverified reports that Ronaldo donated £5MILLION after an earthquake in Nepal killed killed nearly 9,000 people in April 2015.

That year, he was named the world's most charitable sportsman.

He has previously paid tens of thousands of pounds for medical bills - including giving £65,000 to a 10-year-old needing brain surgery and £120,000 to fund a cancer centre in Portugal that treated his mum.

He also regularly gives blood.

Ronaldo earns an estimated £450,000-a-week before tax with Real Madrid.

He also has numerous endorsement deals, including massive deals with sportswear giant Nike - a lifetime deal worth £1BILLION - watchmaker Tag Heuer and fashion brand Armani.

His total net worth is estimated at between £210m and £230m.
