Chelsea stars look relaxed and joke in training as Antonio Conte and Co prepare for Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night
CHELSEA stars looked relaxed and joked around in training as Antonio Conte and Co prepare for their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
The Blues take on Los Rojiblancos in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night, looking to build on 6-0 drubbing of Qarabag in their tournament curtain-raiser.
Goals from Pedro, Davide Zappacosta, Cesar Azpilicueta, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Michy Batshuayi and an own goal from Maksim Medveded saw Chelsea storm to victory over the Azerbaijani minnow two weeks ago.
Following the clash, boss Conte claimed his side had got off to the “perfect start”.
The Italian said: “To play the first game, then to win with a good result, to score many goals, to finish the game with a clean sheet – I saw a lot of positive things tonight.
On his five changes, he said: “To play in the Champions League it means the coach trusts you.
“My message tonight was this: I trust all my players, not with only words, but with facts.
“If we think like last season to play with only 13 players, we are crazy.
“We have to improve all these players to try to create a positive competition between them.”
However, Chelsea know they will face a much bigger challenge in taking on Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
Atleti drew their opener 0-0 away to Roma in their first outing.
Diego Costa is expected to be watching on with interest as his “current” club and “future” club do battle in Spain.
One player who looked in good spirits in training following his weekend hat-trick against Stoke is Alvaro Morata.
