Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola ready to pay Sergi Roberto’s £35.3m Barcelona release clause
The versatile Spaniard can play in central midfield or in defence, or operate as a full-back or winger
PEP GUARDIOLA is ready to shore up his Manchester City defence with Barcelona's versatile Sergi Roberto, according to reports.
Roberto, 25, can operate either as a defensive midfielder or as a deep lying central midfielder, full-back or even winger.
The Spaniard has made exactly 100 appearances for Barca since leaving Gernastic in 2009.
Roberto also played for Barcelona B 106 times before moving up a grade.
He comes with a £35.3million release clause, which according to Spanish news outlet , Guardiola is ready to meet.
Don Balon also say Roberto actually wants to sign a contract extension with Barcelona.
And that he has requested a salary similar to that of Gerard Pique’s.
Barcelona have yet to begin new contract talks with Roberto's agent.

The news comes amid suggestions that he won't stay if the Catalan club is unwilling to meet his contract demands.
Roberto has three full Spanish caps, having appeared for his country at every level from Under-17s upwards.
The City target's first senior call-up came last year for the friendlies with Romania and Italy.
