Neymar and Edinson Cavani to be offered new cash bonus to stop Paris Saint-Germain pair squabbling over penalties and free kicks
NEYMAR and Edinson Cavani have been told they will have a new bonus structure that will encourage them to work together more.
The pair clashed during Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-0 win over Lyon on Sunday while squabbling over who should take penalties and free kicks.
And the selfish circus took place in full glare of the watching crowd, as world record signing Neymar pleaded to take a penalty, but Cavani won the argument.
The Uruguayan lost the battle of wits over the spot kick though, as he blazed his effort against the bar.
It was an embarrassing turn of events, that followed a spat to decide who should take a free kick.
It has since emerged that they also had a clash in the dressing room after the game and captain Thiago Silva had to intervene.
Neymar also unfollowed Cavani on Instagram.
And multiple sources have suggested that the pair’s goal bonus structures have made them so incensed over being snubbed for set pieces.
But now, according to , PSG are putting together a new bonus for the duo, that would encourage them to work together.
The club are reportedly lining up a clause that lets them combine goals and assists into one bonus, rather than a one-off bonus for assists.
Neymar has found the net five times for PSG this term, while Cavani has nine – but the Uruguayan failed to add to his tally on the weekend..
It is hoped the bonus structure will put an end to such arguments as seen at the Parc des Princes, but it is not clear how that will work with penalties and free kicks.
Not that it will leave them short of a few quid anyway though.
In fact, Neymar has been given time off and has been using it to party with pal Lewis Hamilton and a series of Victoria’s Secret models at a bash in London, before heading out again the following night.
Paris Saint-Germain have now played six and won six games in Ligue 1, socring 21 goals and conceding just three and they face 12th-placed Montpellier on Saturday.
