Liverpool ace Joe Gomez ‘likes Instagram post criticising Dejan Lovren and calling for him to start at centre-back’

JOE GOMEZ has appeared to ‘like’ an Instagram post criticising Dejan Lovren and calling for him to start at centre-back.

Liverpool‘s defensive frailties were exposed in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla – with pundit Roy Keane later slamming Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Gomez was sent off deep into stoppage time for a second yellow card after Reds had been pegged back by Joaquin Correa’s strike.

Former Charlton defender Gomez had started the game at right-back, as he did in Reds’ 4-0 thumping of Arsenal.

The newly-appointed England Under-21 skipper is expected by many to find himself playing at centre-back for most of his career.

And he may well feel exactly the same way given some of his apparent activity after the game.

Lovren has found himself in and out of the side as Klopp searches for a reliable combination of central defenders.

The Croatia international was at fault for both goals, with Wissam Ben Yedder netting the opener before Joaquin Correa 72nd-minute strike.

Reds fan account Empire of the Kop spotted that Gomez appears to have liked a tweet from a supporter taking a pop at Gomez.

User ‘issroonneeyyy’ posted: “Can you f*****g start playing centre-back. I’m sick of Lovren playing in the centre. Get Klopp to partner you in the centre cuz I know you’ll get the job done.”

Gomez then seems to have ‘liked’ the Tweet, suggesting emotions were running high at the end of the Anfield clash.
