Liverpool new-boy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is no stranger to a debut thrashing… he lost 8-2 to Manchester United in his first-ever game for Arsenal back in 2011

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN made his Liverpool debut this weekend… in the 5-0 mauling away to Manchester City.

The Sadio Mane controversy aside, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds were ripped to shreds, with the former Arsenal midfielder failing to have any impact after coming on at half-time.

Ex-Arsenal man lost his first-ever Gunners game 8-2 at the hands of Man United

Oxlade-Chamberlain had only just recovered from the 4-0 thumping by Liverpool in his last-ever game for the Gunners.

Now he was subjected to another absolute ravaging at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the England man is no stranger to a debut humiliation.

After all, his Gunners debut – back in August 2011 – was the infamous 8-2 drubbing at the hands of Manchester United.

During the Old Trafford clash, Oxlade-Chamberlain could only watch on in horror as United went 3-0 up in the opening 41 minutes.

Theo Walcott pulled one back on the stroke of half-time to give Arsenal a glimmer of hope.

However, United scored three more times in the next 25 minutes to take a 6-1 lead – with Wayne Rooney completing his hat-trick.

Robin van Persie grabbed a consolation strike with 15 minutes to go, before Ashley Young rubbed salt in the wound with his side’s eighth in stoppage time.

While Ox only came on in the 62nd minute, he still suffered enough in his half an hour of action.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did win his first Southampton match… 5-0, at that

Back to his Liverpool debut, Oxlade-Chamberlain came on at half-time 2-0 down and with the Reds a man short.

He watched on in anguish as City tore Klopp‘s defence to pieces – scoring three more unanswered goals in the second period.

However, Ox hasn’t always suffered on his new club debuts… after all, his first-game for Southampton was crushing 5-0 WIN over Huddersfield back in 2010.
