Jose Mourinho allays fears Manchester United will go way of Arsenal, insisting they remain ‘in control’ of futures of eight players whose contracts expire next summer
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Michael Carrick have decisions to make, while another five have options for a further year
JOSE MOURINHO has allayed fears Manchester United will face the same troubles as Arsenal with eight first-team players having only 12 months remaining on their current deals — insisting: "We remain in control."
The contracts of Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Michael Carrick all expire at the end of the season.
And Mourinho insists only the latter two have decisions to make with United holding an option to extend each of the initial quintet's deal by a further year.
While they are keen to open up discussions over Fellaini's future soon.
Mourinho said: "When the club has a one-year option it means they have one more year of contract so nobody is in the last year.
"The only player, two players are Zlatan and Carrick.
"Two players at the end of the season who are going to sit, analyse what they did and what they want to do.
"All the other players are under the club control until end of the 2018-19 season.

"We are speaking about June 2019. No player ends his contract."
Arsenal are in crisis over the future of key players and could lose Alexis Sanchez for nothing next summer, when the Chilean's deal runs out.
And it is the same story with another big name in Mesut Ozil.
Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain forced Arsene Wenger to sanction a sale to Liverpool, having just 12 months remaining on his current deal.
