In typically incredible fashion, the Superstar is well ahead of schedule and looks in brilliant shape for a man of 35.

The martial artist has kept trim with dozens of work-outs shared on social media and some stunning holidays around the world.

But Ibra has swapped air miles for treadmill steps with a run on a state-of-the-art machine in preparation for his triumphant return.

Mourinho is far from desperate for the former Inter Milan and Barcelona with his side sitting pretty at the top of the table, following a faultless start.

And even star striker and £75million summer signing Romelu Lukaku is looking forward to the competition for places the rejuvenated star will bring.

Lukaku said: “I said to Zlatan I hoped he would be back. We need his personality.

“He will bring many qualities to the team, and help us in our goal of winning the title. I don’t fear the competition as a striker, or Zlatan.

“Things are going really well for me at United, the pre-season was good and it helped knowing a lot of the players before arriving.

“The manager has helped me a lot to settle quickly, so it has all been very positive.

“I am now with a coach that I have wanted to play with for a long time, since I was 11 years of age. And with him we are looking to do something special.”

Ibra is expected to be back in the fold around Christmas for the fixture pile-up his side will hope to be in the middle of, competing on all fronts.

The forward has even put his coaching badges aside to focus solely on winning his place back in the United side.

An Old Trafford source said: “Zlatan had been doing a bit with his badges while he made his comeback from injury.

“The club have indicated there could be a role for him here at some point. He isn’t getting any younger after all.

“He has a lot of belief in himself though and thinks he could play until he is 40, so will take his time with his licences.”

The summer transfer window was one the craziest we have ever seen.
