'FEEL FOR THE LAD'

Adrien Silva cannot train with Leicester with Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare in-limbo over £22m signing

LEICESTER City boss Craig Shakespeare says in-limbo £22million signing Adrien Silva cannot even train with the club.

Silva is still waiting for clearance to complete his move from Sporting Lisbon to the Foxes – a deal which was supposed to have been sealed on deadline day.

Adrien Silva is an established Portugal international, but Leicester fans will have to wait until January to see him in action

But Fifa say the registration arrived 14 seconds too late and Silva’s transfer has been put on hold.

It means that Shakespeare can talk to the player – but the 28-year-old cannot play or train.

He misses Saturday’s game against Chelsea while the red tape is sorted out and Leicester plead their case.

Shakespeare admitted the dispute has yet to be settled.

The Foxes boss said: “We’re all asking that question.

“A deal has been agreed between the clubs but we;re still trying to finalise it. It is a very rare occasion, we’re trying to come to terms with it, and our thoughts are with the player. No, he isn’t training.

“I’ve spoken to him. I feel for the lad. He’s not only so keen to come, but the deal was also agreed between the clubs, it is just the finalisation. It is World Cup year for the player and he is in limbo. He is a strong character and I am sure he’ll be fine.”

Shakespeare says the matter is in the hands of the club’s legal team.

He added:  “It’s still up in the air.

“You identify the players then you leave the other bits to the legal people.

“It’s important to keep a level head. In truth, I don’t understand it all. I would love the player to be in with us. We need to let them carry on with it.

“Hopefully when I ‘m told the players ours and he can train with us, we will welcome him with open arms.

“We review things as we go along. We will sit down and look at our system, as well.”
