Chelsea and Tottenham dealt blow after failing with last-gasp attempt to sign PSG star Thomas Meunier

Premier League duo both tried to secure the right-back last week but French giants refused to allow the 25-year-old to depart Parc des Princes

Meanwhile, Blues manager Antonio Conte hoped to add 25-year-old Meunier to his squad as cover for Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to , the Premier League champions and runners-up made approaches for the defender after PSG signed Brazilian Dani Alves from Juventus.

But the super-rich Ligue 1 club refused to let the Belgian ace leave.

They insisted they want two top-class players for every position in their team.

A source close to Meunier said: “Thomas was at the top of both Chelsea and Tottenham‘s wish lists.

“But PSG refused to let him go.”
