Leicester transfer news: Foxes announce they have agrees terms with Sporting Lisbon over Adrien Silva
The Portuguese midfielder will now be link up with Craig Shakespeare' side subject to international clearance approval
LEICESTER have announced they agreed terms to bring in Adrien Silva from Sporting Lisbon.
Craig Shakespeare will now welcome the 28-year-old midfielder to the King Power Stadium once the transfer is granted international clearance.
The Foxes released a statement on their club website: "Leicester City can confirm that terms have been agreed with Sporting Clube de Portugal for the transfer of midfielder Adrien Silva.
"The transfer remains subject to international clearance approval."
SunSport revealed earlier today that the deal was to be imminently announced despite the transfer window closing at 11pm last night.
Leicester were waiting for FA approval before they could reveal their new man to fill the void left by Danny Drinkwater.
He left to join Chelsea in a dramatic Deadline Day switch for £35million, but Shakespeare has acted swiftly to replace the England international.
He has been on 2015/16 Premier League champions' radar for over a year - having previously seen an offer of £25m knocked back by Jorge Jesus' side last summer.
LATEST LEICESTER NEWS
Silva had been on West Brom's radar this summer - but the Baggies brought in Paris Saint-Germain stalwart Gregorz Kryochiwak on a season-long loan, beating Leicester for his signature.
Since making his debut for Sporting as an 18-year-old in the 2007/08 season, he has went on to make 232 appearances - netting on 38 occasions, and becoming club-captain.
He has since established himself in the Portuguese national side - earning 20 caps, and part of the squad that triumphed at Euro 2016.
