Sun Bets are offering all new customers a huge 33/1 on England to beat Malta.
But scans revealed that Jenkinson, on-loan from Arsenal, had dislocated his shoulder and would be sidelined for an extended period.
And forced Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp to instead go for a right-back as he searched for a replacement for the England international.
He eventually opted to splash out £3million on Brentford’s Maxime Colin to fill the void left by the full-back.
Clarke-Salter is one of the outstanding talents in the Chelsea academy and was wanted by a number of Brum’s Championship rivals.
He impressed last season during a loan spell at Bristol Rovers and Stamford Bridge chiefs were keen to see him gain further experience further up the Football League ladder.
But after his switch to the second city collapsed, Antonio Conte opted to keep him in West London as defensive cover.
