Man City offer Arsenal Raheem Sterling plus cash for Alexis Sanchez who has asked to leave Chile camp for other commitments
Arsene Wenger's week could go from bad to worse if he loses his star striker to a Premier League rival
MANCHESTER CITY have offered Arsenal cash and Raheem Sterling for wantaway striker Alexis Sanchez, according to reports.
claims Pep Guardiola has offered Arsene Wenger the England forward and a chunk of money for the Chile man’s signature but the Gunners are said to prefer Sergio Aguero.
Sanchez was hooked after 62 minutes of his sides embarrassing 4-0 drubbing against Liverpool on Saturday, with the Gunners already three down.
And he has asked to leave his international training camp with Chile to sort out other commitments.
The Emirates side is already down in 16th after three underwhelming games with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain now also looking for a way out.
Sanchez is in the final year of his contract and has been accused of smiling and laughing when he has been benched during disappointing games.
After he was hooked in the Liverpool mauling, pundit Gary Neville said: “I doubt he’s aware the camera’s on him. Not sure what he’s smiling about."
Then, as the camera panned towards disappointed Arsenal fans, Neville added: “That’s more representative of what he should be looking like.”
Guardiola has been teasing a move for the unsettled South American, and said last week when asked about his interest: ““Alexis? He’s an Arsenal player.
“You have to ask Alexis. Normally I don’t talk about players from other clubs.
“I’m happy with the squad I have. We have five or six days left, and we’ll see with the market.
“Maybe some of the players here will leave and we will see.
“Now the market is difficult and it was difficult before. You have to spend more, not just City but other clubs.
“They’re looking for the best solutions. They wait until the last minute to make the deal cheaper.”
City are ready with a £21million-a-year contract that would make Sanchez, 28, the Premier League’s highest-paid player on a weekly basic wage of £325,000 plus £75,000 image rights.
City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain has been charged with making sure Sanchez is signed and will leave no stone unturned to make the South American star feels at home the moment he arrives.
City will offer him a choice of exclusive rented accommodation in the city and on the outskirts — all paid for by the club.
However, , Aguero will have to head in the opposite direction.
