MARK HUGHES will stump up £17million to beat West Brom and Crystal Palace in the auction for Kevin Wimmer.
Hughes wants the Austrian defender — along with Spurs pal Vincent Janssen — and is hopeful Palace and the Baggies will back off.
The Eagles are hopeful of doing a deal for Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho.
The French centre-back can go even if Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk does not move to Anfield.
Meanwhile, West Brom boss Tony Pulis has his sights on Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe, as a move for Janssen falters.
Afobe could be available and, if Cherries boss Eddie Howe gives the word, Pulis will be in with a £12m offer for the hitman who made his name with rivals Wolves.
Janssen is wanted by the Baggies but Spurs are undecided about whether they can sell without landing a replacement.
That leaves Pulis and Stoke facing transfer frustration.
