Manchester United and Chelsea target Renato Sanches asked to be left out from Bayern Munich’s matchday squad to ‘concentrate on his future’
Former Golden Boy-winner has been linked with a move away from Allianz Arena and it appears exit is getting nearer
RENATO SANCHES asked to be omitted from today’s matchday squad.
The 20-year-old is expected to leave the Allianz Arena before the end of the transfer window as he attempts to rediscover his best form.
He was not included in the 18-man squad selected to face Werder Bremen, and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reveals Carlo Ancelotti obliged to the player’s own request.
He said: “He asked the manager not to be included today, so he could think more about his future, and Ancelotti accepted.”
Before the trip to Bremen, the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss opened the door to Sanches‘ exit — and it now appears only a matter of time before he leaves Munich.
Ancelotti had insisted: “He knows his role in the club, he knows there is a lot of competition.
“If he stays, great.
“But, if he wants to leave, that’s fine too. No problems.”
United had tried to sign Sanches from Benfica before he joined Bayern — and Jose Mourinho is still a fan.
However, Antonio Conte is keen to get him to Stamford Bridge and spoke to Ancelotti about the midfielder’s availability to when Chelsea met the Bavarians in pre-season — with big-spending Milan are another interested party.
Sanches moved to Munich last summer in a deal which could have reached a staggering £80million with add-ons.
He expected to leave the club on loan.
