West Ham end William Carvalho interest as they pull out of Sporting Lisbon transfer talks after refusing to meet £40million price-tag
Hammers boss Slaven Bilic was eager to boost quality of squad with Carvalho but will now look elsewhere for new midfielder
WEST HAM have reportedly ended their chase for Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho.
claims the Hammers have decided to pull out of talks for the midfielder after failing to settle on a fee with Sporting.
The Portuguese giants were demanding an eye-watering £40million for Carvalho.
But West Ham were reluctant to pay that much for the anchorman and will now look at other options before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
A source was quoted as saying: “He just got too expensive and you have to say no sometimes.
“Also, he’s not trained for three weeks. He has done no pre-season training – so he might have needed four to six weeks to be ready to play for us.”
Speaking yesterday about the situation, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic said: “[There’s] nothing new (about the situation).
“It is a position we have been trying to do that (strengthen) for a couple of seasons now.
