Manchester United to finally sign Antoine Griezmann next summer as Atletico Madrid forward eyes move, according to Guillem Balague
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague says French striker is considering a switch to Old Trafford as the blockbuster deal is back on the cards
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN’S blockbuster transfer to Manchester United is BACK ON, according to La Liga expert Guillem Balague.
The France international forward was the No1 transfer target for the Red Devils this summer.
But Jose Mourinho missed out on the Atletico Madrid star as the Spanish side’s transfer ban led to him extending his contract in the capital.
United instead turned to £75million hotshot Romelu Lukaku to fill the void left by the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Despite the deal falling through this year, Balague claims that the door is still open to Griezmann moving to Old Trafford in 2018.
And he added that the 26-year-old is already considering his options ahead of next season.
Balague told : “He is with a team which has played in Champions League finals and also won the league recently - more recently than Manchester United - so he is already at one of the top teams in Europe.
“He is playing with the fans and he will continue to do that with teasing messages but it is quite clear he will consider a move to Old Trafford next summer.

“This summer it's impossible but next summer, who knows?”
He added: “Quite clearly, he was determined to go to Manchester United and it's just the fact he didn't want to let Atletico Madrid down while they couldn't sign anyone that made him decide to stay.
“He had made his mind up to go to Old Trafford though, so we will see what happens as 12 months is a long time.”
Griezmann has not enjoyed the best start to this campaign with Atletico as he was sent off during the 2-2 draw at newly-promoted Girona last week.
He has also hinted on social media that he regrets not joining United.
