Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm is considering TWO offers to come out of retirement

German World Cup-winning captain reportedly mulling over offers from Hamburg and St. Pauli to make a sensational comeback to the pitch

BAYERN MUNICH legend Philipp Lahm is considering a stunning return to football after receiving two offers to come out of retirement.

The German World Cup-winning captain, 33, shocked the game when he called time on his career at the end of last season saying he felt he felt could no longer give his best every day.

But reports in claim the legendary full-back might be about to make a sensational comeback.

And although he has previously been adamant that he would not be tempted back on to the pitch, he has a number of offers to choose from.

Bundesliga side Hamburg have offered him the chance to pull on the boots once again.

And second tier outfit St. Pauli have also contacted Lahm with a written offer.

Their business manager Andreas Rettig has sent him a deal until the end of the season with the option of a further year - and the former star has yet to reject the offer.

Rettig, 54, confirmed: "I would like to make a big transfer again."

Despite not officially rejecting either offer, it remains to be seen whether Lahm postpones his retirement.

Apart from a loan spell at Stuttgart back in 2003, he has spent his whole career at his home town club Bayern Munich.

And Lahm may find the prospect of playing for one of his former side's top-flight rivals too much to bear.

The possibility of a comeback in the second tier may also fail to whet the appetite.

Lahm was considered one of the greatest players of his generation and is already a member of the Bayern hall of fame.

He showed his versatility and talents when Pep Guardiola arrived as manager of the Bavarians back in 2013.

The now Manchester City boss switched him from full-back into midfield in a move that reaped rich rewards.

In fact, Guardiola said of the ace: "He is perhaps the most intelligent player I have ever trained in my career.

"He is at another level."

Lahm's honours list from his career is simply incredible.

He won eight Bundesliga titles, six German Cups, the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup.

But undoubtedly his finest moment came when skippering his country to World Cup joy in Brazil in 2014.

And with today's report, he could add yet more medals to his collection should he come out of retirement.
